Memories of reading
Looking back at my memories of when I was an elementary student, I do not quietly remember a lot of books I read. I believe I do not remember does books because they did not teach me anything worthy of remembering. I do remember some of the books that my mom or dad used to read to me when I was a little girl. Those books are “Caperucita roja” which in English is “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Los tres cerdito y el lobo feroz” which in English is “The Three Little Pigs”, and “La Tortuga y la libre” which in English is “The Tortoise and the Hare”. From this three books I learned a lot of things I still apply to my life. From “Caperucita roja” I learned that we always have to be cautious with the people that is around us because sometimes those people can heart us. For example, in the book caperucita treats the wolf with kindness and in return the wolf tries to eat her. In the book of “Los tres cerdito y el lobo feroz” taught me the message that we always have to try our best no matter what. For example, in the book when the wolf came and destroy the two houses from the two pigs that did not put their best effort in their construction. The wolf could not destroy the house of the third pig because he built his house with all the efforts he had. The final book I remember is a fable. I remember my mom used to read it to me when I was like 7 or 8 years. This book taught me that we always have to keep our goals on mind and have the best positive attitude in order to achieve them. We all know that the turtle is one of the most slow animals in the world. Even thought, the turtle is a slow animal he/she never lost the focus of his/her goals and at the end he/she won the race against hare.
After my experiences I believe that reading to our younger kids is an awesome thing. I believe that we should start reading to our kids since the womb. I believe that reading aloud to our kids is the best thing we could do since we will be creating memories in their minds that will help them through life. I also believe that we have to be really careful with the books we read to our children. We need to be careful since those books will show a message to our students. The message needs to be a good one since it is going to influence our students for life. I also believe that the books we read to our students need to relate to their lives. For example, I remember that my mom started reading the “Caperucita roja” book to me when I started going to 1st grade. During that time I was being bully my one girl in my classroom. I always came to my house crying and feeling bad about myself, until my mom read “Caperucita roja” to me. I remember that after my mom finished reading the book I realize that there were a lot of mean people in this world.
In conclusion, I have a lot of memories of different books my parents read to me as I was growing up. Those books fill my toolbox with good tools. I hope that one day I can help my students fill their toolbox through reading to them.
